Why industrial buyers specify Inconel 625

Alloy 625 combines nickel, chromium, molybdenum and niobium. Molybdenum and niobium strengthen the matrix without a required precipitation-hardening treatment, while the chemistry supports resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking.

Corrosion resistance

Strong resistance across many oxidizing and non-oxidizing media, with useful pitting and crevice-corrosion resistance.

Fabrication

Is Alloy 625 precipitation hardenable?

Alloy 625 is primarily solid-solution strengthened by molybdenum and niobium. Standard product does not require precipitation hardening to develop its basic strength.
